Slugmail.com: Spam Information
Spam is a big problem for the internet. Spam is also a big problem
for slugmail.com. This is NOT because slugmail users get spam. Slugmail
users ONLY get slugmail from themselves. Unfortunatly spammers sometimes send spam
to us. They pick up some addresses from our home page.
We then return some of it (that which still gets through our spam filters). When we
send it back to them (the following Thursday for example), they get really excited and send still
more spam.
Some slugmail.com addresses get too much spam and it is a waste of resources.
Again, this is an internal problem for slugmail.com and NOT one for users. Slugmail.com
only sends mail to people who send messages to us, and ONLY sends exactly one message
back for each message sent.
Solutions
First, we are constantly updating and tweaking our state-of-the art open source spam filters
to catch as much as possible.
Even so, as a temporary measure we are suspending service to the following addresses:
{monday, mon, tuesday, tue ... sunday, sun } [AT] slugmail.com
Because a couple of caledar dates are mentioned on the home page, they will also be temporarily suspended
from new mail:
{12mar, 21sep} [AT] slugmail.com
If you have already submitted email to these addresses we will still return it on those days but
for a while at least we will no longer accept it.
Hopefully we can do better on our filtering and open up these addresses again soon.
